Jayney Sutcliffe
Psychologist
Crucial to everyone, mental health and wellness is often overlooked or taken for granted. Learning how to take care of our mental health promotes resilience, improves creativity and learning, increases productivity, and helps us feel more connected to others. We feel happy, confident, hopeful, and generally satisfied with life. Better able to cope with the stresses of life. That’s where I fit in; I’m here to coach and support you in developing those crucial mental health skills.
As a psychologist, I am passionate and committed to my role. Offering support and interest in others. Trained in CBT and trauma focused therapy my special interests are Anxiety Disorders, Trauma, Depression and Domestic Violence.
I take a relaxed approach, making every effort to offer clients a safe space where they feel secure enough to share their life experiences. Talking to a total stranger can be difficult, even if you have done psychotherapy before. I will offer you empathy and you will no longer feel so alone. You will walk away each time with skills to practice in better managing your struggles. I remind my clients “Life always needs practice and rehearsal”. I will be your coach.
Qualifications/Experience
Psychologist B. Psych (Hons) B. Soc Sc.
CBT – Mindfulness – Trauma Focused Therapy
Over the last 20 years I have worked in government, not for profit organisations and in private practice.
Some of my professional opportunities have included developing and delivering high school based psycho education programs, presenting a paper on trauma at the International Childs Rights Conference and working collaboratively with indigenous organisations, training others in how to offer crisis support and counselling to domestic violence survivors.
Also qualified as a sociologist I have a keen interest in how social systems such as family, community, and the workplace influence mental health particularly where there has been crisis and devastation.
Currently I am seeing adults and adolescents 15 years of age onwards. I will develop an individual treatment plan in collaboration with GPs, Patients and any relevant stakeholder using best practice evidence based interventions.
